PERTH, AUSTRALIA
Mondiale VGL is a leading provider of transport and logistics services across Oceania. Their fully integrated model covers sea and air freight, import and export, wharf transport, customs clearance, and warehousing across New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Europe and the USA. Earlier this year, Mondiale began building its Perth, Australia, warehouse.
Client Challenge:
Mondiale and TMX identified a critical risk: pedestrians moving through the site were exposed to vehicles, forklifts, and other material handling equipment both inside and outside the facility.
Solutions Offered:
TMX engaged Vanguard to explore their options for keeping pedestrians safe and separate from vehicles, forklifts, and other materials-handling equipment.
These solutions were:
PedSafe Handrails
The PedSafe Handrail is a modular, pedestrian railing system designed to segregate people and MHE and clearly define pedestrian routes within a workplace.
PedSafe Pause Gate
The PedSafe Pause Gate is a self-closing pedestrian swing gate designed to encourage pedestrians to stop and pause before entering a shared zone or hazardous area. Highly visible in a yellow powder-coat finish, the pause gate features self-closing hinges to ensure that the gate remains shut when not in use.
Outcome:
Vanguard installed 150m of the PedSafe Handrail system and 21 PedSafe Pause Gates on the Mondiale site. By doing so, they provided safe and visible pedestrian walkways for the Mondiale staff, both within the warehouse and around the outside of the facility.
Beyond providing human protection, installing the handrail and pause gates reduces the risk of heavy fines, reputational damage, and significant financial loss — a consequence many companies face when pedestrian safety is not adequately planned for or controlled.
When asked why TMX chose our solutions over other alternatives, they explained that the PedSafe Handrail and Pause Gate combination was a more aesthetically superior option, offered high functionality, and provided faster installation times, all while working neatly within their budget.
