TMX Transform, the leading global end-to-end supply chain consultancy, has been recognized in the 100 Great Supply Chain Partners for 2024 by leading industry publication SupplyChainBrain.
This award highlights the transformative work TMX Transform has done in collaboration with Coles Group, one of the largest supermarkets in Australia.
The accolade references the development of two groundbreaking Automated Distribution Centers (ADCs) in Redbank, Queensland, and Kemps Creek, New South Wales in Australia.
Leading the Way with Redbank ADC: Largest in the Southern Hemisphere
The Redbank facility, which opened in 2023, stands as the largest automated distribution center (ADC) in the Southern Hemisphere and represents the single biggest technology investment in Coles Group’s 100-year history.
TMX Transform played a crucial role in bringing this landmark project to fruition, managing the complex site selection, property construction, and the integration of advanced automation technology in compliance with Australian regulations and environmental standards.
The Redbank ADC spans over 710,000 sq. ft. and services 219 supermarkets across Queensland and Northern New South Wales, with all benefitting from increased replenishment and a reduction in out-of-cost stock items by 30 percent.
This facility, equipped with sustainable features such as LED and sensor lighting, rainwater harvesting systems, and plans for a significant solar installation, underscores Coles’ commitment to innovation and sustainability.
"TMX Transform is honored to have been part of Coles’ journey to modernize its supply chain operations and set a new benchmark for automated distribution globally. The Redbank and Kemps Creek Automated Distribution Centers have been designed to create safer and more sustainable outcomes for Coles’ team members and suppliers, and better on-shelf availability for customers,” Travis Erridge, CEO at TMX Transform.
We have seen great improvements in availability for our customers in Queensland and Northern New South Wales following the opening of Redbank ADC in Queensland last year, and I'm excited to see this second ADC bring these same benefits to NSW.
Coles Group opens its second ADC
Following the success of the Redbank facility, TMX Transform supported Coles in the development of its second ADC in Kemps Creek, NSW.
Opened in August 2024, this 710,418 sq. ft. facility further enhances Coles’ supply chain capabilities, processing over four million cartons weekly and servicing 229 stores across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.
TMX Transform's involvement included end-to-end support from concept design to detailed building design and specification, automation integration, business case assistance, property procurement, and project delivery through to go-live.
Using global-leading WITRON technology, the ADCs are part of Coles' investment of more than $1 billion into technological innovation.
It’s all about enabling growth, and enabling growth means you have to hit the right cost base and also the right service level to keep acquiring customers who have higher expectations on both convenience and value.
